DOROTHY AND HESTER GO TO UGANDA

Hester begins a three-month period of field research and building relationships with national trauma care experts are deepened.

With this entry, we are proud to introduce one of our first Market Research Analysts here at The Market Project. Hester Bentil, a current MBA student at the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business, is spearheading our work in Uganda.

Hester Bentil has more than eight years of experience working with the largest African Banking Group, Ecobank Group, as well as providing local entrepreneurs training and advisory services on best trading practices. A native of Ghana, West Africa, Hester has worked with multi-cultural, cross-functional teams in marketing, customer experience, product analysis, asset and liability management, relationship management, and foreign exchange sales. She has also worked extensively with international and local NGOs, multinational firms, and small and medium-scale enterprises as part of her role at Ecobank.

Hester will spend the next three months conducting the field research necessary to develop a business plan and other materials for our first TMP Enterprise in Gulu, Uganda. Hester will work closely with Eve and Awaka Uganda in order to obtain the most recent, pertinent, and important statistics and information necessary for The Market Project to succeed in Uganda.

Our hope is that by August 2015, we will have a fully developed business plan and presentation with which to begin moving concretely moving forward in implementing The Market Project’s first ever in the field enterprise. We are excited that plans are already coming together and are looking forward to the very near future when one of these activity updates will include the launch of a business in Northern Uganda!
