Where Are They Now? Robert’s Story

A Nguvu Dairy Alum Reflects on His Journey
When Robert joined Nguvu Dairy in 2017, he was fresh out of high school, looking for direction and opportunity. Over the course of years working at Nguvu, he found both—along with healing, purpose and a future he hadn’t imagined.
From Sales to Leadership: “It meant everything.”
Robert started as a salesperson distributing yogurt which he recalls as a tough job, but one that sparked his growth. He quickly moved into leadership, first organizing products and managing cash flow as a Sales Site Team Leader, then becoming Sales Manager for the entire Gulu District.
Reflecting on that first job, Robert said, “It meant everything. I was struggling to find a job… someone told me Nguvu could change my life.” And it did. With no prior work experience, he leaned into every training and mentorship opportunity offered.
Nguvu became more than a job. It was a place of transformation. “They mentored me, spared me when I didn’t have the skills. The work motivated me—if I can do this, I can do anything.”
His greatest takeaway? Confidence. “Nguvu gave me the boldness to talk to anyone. The marketing skills I gained, I still use today.”
Healing and Hope
Beyond professional growth, Robert experienced deep personal healing at Nguvu. “I was depressed before,” he shared. “The mentoring and skills I learned in the trauma healing classes helped me see things differently. Everything is an opportunity! Even now, the hard things are seeds that will bear fruit.”
A New Chapter
After leaving Nguvu, Robert leaned into entrepreneurship, “I started a small, cosmetics and lotions business, Robert Solutions, using the same marketing skills I learned at Nguvu. Just new products and new clients.”
Robert is also in school, due to receive his diploma in mass communication next month. As part of his pursuit, he is interning at a radio station. He even hosts his own radio talk show on family relationships three times a week.
He’s never stopped dreaming. His sights are set on his “dream school” Uganda Christian University, where he hopes to continue in mass communications. Law school may follow.
The Legacy of Nguvu Dairy
When asked what he’ll remember most, Robert points to Nguvu’s deep impact: “It empowered people in the region—not just with jobs, but with healing.”
His message to The Market Project?
“Nguvu was the best platform ever made. It helped people. It employed and healed [them]. It bore fruit.”
